Rajouri,May,01:International Labour Day which is observed every year on the first day of the month of May was celebrated in Rajouri by paying respect and facilitating the labourers in Quarantine Centers established at different locations in the district.
The Labour Day is also known as the May Day in India and it corresponds to the International Workers’ Day which is celebrated around the world. It is observed as a national holiday in around 80 countries including India and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength,prosperity and well-being of our country.
Keeping in view the ethos of International Labour day the efforts and contribution of labourers currently spending their quarantine period in different centers,the district administration Rajouri on Friday has facilitated them by cutting of cakes and gifts were also presented on the occasion.
The Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Mohammad Nazir Sheikh along with Additional Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Sher Singh, DSEO,Bilal Mir, District Panchayat Officer,Dr.Abdul Khabir,Dr.Alyas,Dr.Bilal Malik,Tehsil Social welfare Officer,Abdul Kabir and Warden of the Hostel visited and celebrated international labour day at the Quarantine centres established at Boys Hostel PG College Rajouri,Girls Hostel PG College Rajouri.
Special eatables were provided to them on the occasion apart from the daily routine meals.Meanwhile the labour department Rajouri has also distributed masks among the interdistrict migrant labourers and workers who are stranded in Rajouri due to lockdown.
Deputy Commissioner Rajouri,Mohammad Nazir Sheikh while speaking on the occasion has said that the need of the hour is to understand the importance of the day and to pay respect to the sincere efforts of the labourers for their contribution towards the development of the nation.He also assured that the district administration Rajouri is always with the labour community in this period of CoronaVirus crises and all the basic facilities are being provided and shall be provided to them in future amid COVID19 by the district administration to mitigate their sufferings and to ensure their well being.
