Consignment of fake currency recovered in Rajouri, accused arrested

Rajouri,March 6 :- Foiling an attempt of anti social elements to circulate fake currency in the market, the Jammu and Kashmir police in Rajouri district have arrested a person after a consignment of fake currency notes was recovered from his possession.

Police in its official statement said that a team of police headed by Station House Officer Rajouri Sameer Jillani and Deputy SP Headquarter Surinder Khadyar was on routine patrolling in the area when they saw a man walking alongside road who started to behave suspiciously on seeing police team and changed his direction of walking.
Sensing suspicion, team of police intercepted the man after a brief chase and put him to frisking when cash comprising of 500 rupee notes was recovered, said police.
Police further informed that during examination of the recovered cash as per SOPs, the recovered 198 notes of 500 denomination amounting 99000 rupees were found to be of fake nature after which all the recovered currency notes have been seized and accused identified as Abdul Khaliq Pervaiz son of Munshi Khan resident of Dhargaloon Mendhar in Poonch district have been arrested.
Police said that a case FIR 116/2020 under sections 489-C IPC have been registered in Rajouri police station.
Senior Superintendent of Police Rajouri, Chandan Kohli said that a team of police headed by Additional SP Rajouri Liyaqit Ali is further investigating the matter to identify and nab other accused involved in circulation of fake currency.
