Udhampur admin launches children safety campaign-Sahyog

UDHAMPUR, AUGUST 31 GN: District administration Udhampur today launched the safety campaign for the school Children – Sahyog.

In this regard, District Development Commissioner, Dr Piyush Singla chaired a meeting of the Principals of the private, Army and KV Schools falling in the jurisdiction of Tehsil Udhampur to discuss the safety measures as per the Supreme Court directions.

Detailed discussion were held on various issues related to road safety measures which includes Supreme court directions for school transport, Duties of students and parents, Overloading, Over speeding, Outcomes of the new proposed system, Organizing the School Vans, Draw backs of the present system, Launch of program Sahyog safer world for our children, Latest Addition, etc were discussed in detail.

Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Rachna Sharma gave power point presentation regarding regulation of school transport in Udhampur district. She informed that a district Task force under the chairmanship of deputy commissioner shall be formed in which officers from various departments will participate. In this regard she added that Traffic clubs will be made in every schools and educational institutions besides a team of NCC and NSS can be utilized for awareness and control of transport and traffic regulations inside the institutions. The basic motto of the meeting is to organize the unorganized school transport, Sahyog is basically programe in which with cooperation of school, Administration and parents this kind of program can be set as a model for all the districts.

The DDC appealed the stakeholders to cooperate with district administration as it is a collective responsibility to provide traffic worthy environment to the students of the district.
