Jammu, August, 22: Denudation of Forest is playing havoc with the environment said Mr. Ashok Sharma, National Coordinator AICC Vichar Vibhag and former legislator while addressing the participants who planted neem, guava and arnamental plants in Nagrota Park organises by Indian Council for Enviro Legal Action (ICELA) and Congress Vichar Vibhag in collaboration with civil society.
Mr. Sharma who happens to be State Convenor ICELA urged upon the youth and students in particular and the people at large to plant trees in large number in the state to check growing pollution of air and water causing deadly diseases.
He said that struggle against the loss of green cover and forest land encroachments need mass support. He further said that environment protection is the necessity for human survival.
Mr Vinod Sharma, Ex-JKPCC General Secretary highlited the contribution of late Prime Minister Sh. Rajiv Gandhi with regard to river ganges cleaning project, decentralized of powers, stepping in of India in 21st century with transmission of Information Technology to the grass root level and plantation of trees and fight against corruption.
Prominent among those who participated were Nakul Sharma, State Secretary, JKPYC, Sikander Khan, Sanjay Kumar, Kuldeep Singh Janwal, Ashiq Ali, Mohd Saleem, Sahid, Nadeem, Baber Khan, Tahir Akhbar, Masood Ahmedh, Paramjeet Singh, Jameel Mir, Fazain Ahmedh.
