Sub-standard material used in macadamization of road, Sawni residents irked

Rajouri, 23 July.: Road macadamisation could not sustain even one month after they were laid in several Rajouri areas, thus indicating use of poor quality material in them.

Residents of Sawani in Rajouri District today claimed that the the road macadamised by Roads and Building department broke within 20 days of completion of work.

The whole area is up in arms against the department for using sub standard material in the work.

“There is a nexus between R&B department and the contractor,” they alleged.

They have appealed district development commissioner Rajouri to look into the matter and take action against the department as well as contractor.

When GNS contacted to Assistant Executive Engineer R&B Javid Choudhary he said that the department is vigilant towards it and will not allow the contractor to use sub-standard material.

“We will repair the portion immediately,” he said, however added that the damages were caused by untimely traffic movement.
