RAJOURI, OCTOBER 24:-In a significant step towards improving facilities for pilgrims and promoting religious tourism in the Pir Panjal region, a multipurpose hall has been inaugurated at Astana-e-Aalia Hazrat Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah (R.A.) at Chamrer Gali, a revered shrine situated atop a mountain near Poonch district.
The facility was inaugurated by Abdul Qayoom Mir (KAS Retd.), Administrator, J&K Waqf Board, Rajouri, under the leadership of Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi, Chairperson of the J&K Waqf Board.
The newly constructed hall is expected to provide much-needed shelter and resting space for pilgrims and other visitors who travel to the shrine, which is located in a difficult mountainous terrain and lacks road connectivity.
Situated atop steep hills, the shrine can be reached only after trekking several kilometres on foot. The absence of proper accommodation and resting facilities had posed difficulties for devotees, particularly those undertaking the arduous journey to pay obeisance at the revered religious site.
With the construction of the multipurpose hall, visitors are expected to benefit from improved basic facilities, while the initiative is also likely to encourage more pilgrims to visit the shrine and contribute to the promotion of religious tourism in the Pir Panjal region.
Speaking on the occasion, Abdul Qayoom Mir appreciated the initiatives undertaken by the J&K Waqf Board under the leadership of Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi for the development and improvement of shrines and mosques across the region.
He said that religious places which had remained neglected in the past were now being taken up for systematic development, with a focus on improving facilities for devotees and preserving the region’s rich spiritual and cultural heritage.
Mir added that efforts towards the preservation, restoration, beautification and modernisation of shrines and mosques were helping strengthen religious infrastructure while maintaining the sanctity and traditional character of these important places of worship.
The development at Chamrer Gali is expected to bring greater convenience to devotees visiting the mountain-top shrine and provide a boost to religious tourism in the region. However, the challenging trekking route and lack of road connectivity remain key concerns for visitors.
The construction of the multipurpose hall marks an important addition to the facilities available at the shrine, addressing a long-standing need for shelter and rest at a religious destination located in the remote mountainous landscape of the Pir Panjal.
