RAJOURI, SEPT 25:- Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Abhishek Sharma today chaired the quarterly meeting of the District Level Advisory Committee(DLAC) on Safe Food and Healthy Diets. The meeting focused on strengthening food safety, hygiene and healthy dietary practices.
The meeting was attended by SSP Naresh Singh; ADC Ravi Kumar Sihag; IAS Probationer Akash Garg; Programme Officer ICDS Harpal Singh; CMO Dr. Manohar Lal Rana; CEO Mohd Hafiz and other concerned officers.
The DC directed enforcement departments to conduct regular inspections of food items and meals served in government schools and Anganwadi Centres, with special emphasis on quality, hygiene, safe preparation and handling practices. He also directed strict monitoring of sweet shops, meat shops, fast-food outlets and other food establishments to ensure compliance with prescribed food safety standards. Food handlers were advised to maintain proper hand hygiene and use gloves.
The Deputy Commissioner further stressed strict enforcement of the ban on sale of tobacco products around 100-metre area of educational institutions. He directed the police and enforcement departments to keep close watch and take action against violators.
The concerned officers were directed to sensitise vendors, shopkeepers and langar organisers on food safety and hygiene standards. Workshops for fast-food and ready-to-eat food vendors, including those preparing pakoras and similar items, were also directed to promote safe food handling practices.
