DC Rajouri chairs Block Diwas in Manyal-DKG at Thanamandi

‎‎RAJOURI, SEPT, 16: As part of the Weekly Block Diwas initiative, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Abhishek Sharma today chaired a public outreach camp in Manyal-DKG at Thanamandi to listen and ensure on-the-spot redressal of public grievances.

‎‎The local residents and public representatives projected a number of issues and demands pertaining to roads, mobile connectivity, infrastructure and other essential services. The Deputy Commissioner gave a patient hearing and took detailed feedback from the concerned officers regarding the issues raised.

‎‎The Deputy Commissioner assured that all issues pertaining to different departments have been duly noted and genuine concerns shall be redressed in a phased manner. He stressed the need for adopting a solution-oriented approach and urged the public to work hand in hand with the district administration for timely resolution of their grievances. Officers from various departments also responded to the issues raised by the public and apprised the gathering about the action being taken and the measures proposed for addressing the concerns.

‎‎Highlighting the immense tourism potential of Thanamandi, the Deputy Commissioner said that the area, known for its scenic beauty and natural attractions, has significant potential for further development as a tourist destination. He emphasized the need to make concerted efforts towards strengthening connectivity and improving infrastructure to facilitate the movement of tourists and boost local economic activity.

‎‎The Deputy Commissioner directed the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) to expedite the ongoing work on the Rajouri–Thanamandi–Surankote road. He also informed that a committee has been constituted for assessment of losses caused by the recent floods. He directed the committee to complete the assessment and submit its report at the earliest so that further necessary action could be initiated on the basis of the findings.

‎‎The Deputy Commissioner reiterated that the Weekly Block Diwas initiative provides an effective platform for direct interaction between the administration and the people. He called upon all departments to ensure effective follow-up on the issues raised during such outreach programmes.

‎‎Later, the Deputy Commissioner inspected High School Manyal. He took stock of the condition of the school infrastructure and observed that some of the rooms were old and in a dilapidated condition. He directed the PWD and Education Department to take necessary corrective measures and ensure that the safety of students and staff remains the foremost priority.
