YSS Poonch Conducts District and Zonal-Level Sports Trials and Competitions Under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan

POONCH SEPT 08:-The Department of Youth Services & Sports (YSS), Poonch, today conducted a series of district and zonal-level sports activities, including trial-cum-selections and competitions, under the banner of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, with the objective of promoting sports, discipline, teamwork, physical fitness and a healthy, drug-free lifestyle among the youth.

At the District Level, an Under-17 Boys Cricket Trial-cum-Selection was conducted, in which 102 young cricketers from different Zones of District Poonch participated with great enthusiasm. The trials provided a platform for budding cricketers to showcase their skills and abilities and for the Department to identify promising talent for further representation at higher levels.

The trial-cum-selection process was conducted in a transparent and systematic manner, with players assessed on the basis of their sporting ability, performance, discipline, teamwork and overall potential. The selection committee constituted by the Department remained actively involved in the process to ensure a fair and transparent selection of deserving players.

Meanwhile, the Department of Youth Services & Sports, Zone Mandi, conducted Zonal-Level Trial-cum-Selections for Under-29 Boys in the sports disciplines of Volleyball and Kabaddi. A total of 32 players participated in Volleyball, while 26 players participated in Kabaddi, showcasing their sporting skills, competitive spirit and enthusiasm.

The zonal-level selections in both Volleyball and Kabaddi were conducted in a fair, transparent and disciplined manner. The participating players were assessed on their performance, technical skills, fitness, teamwork and overall sporting potential for further representation.

The sporting activities commenced with the Nasha Mukt Bharat Pledge, wherein participating players, officials and staff collectively pledged to stay away from drugs and contribute towards building a healthier and drug-free society. The pledge was followed by the sporting activities, which witnessed active participation and enthusiasm among the young sportspersons.

The Department reiterated that sports play a vital role in keeping young people physically active, mentally focused and away from harmful substances. Such initiatives under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan aim to strengthen the message of “Youth in Sports, Youth Away from Drugs” and encourage young people to channel their energy towards constructive and positive activities.

The trials, selections and competitions were conducted under the supervision of the concerned ZPEOs and their dedicated teams of staff. PEMs, PELs, PETs, Rehbar-e-Khel (ReK) teachers and NYC volunteers actively contributed towards the smooth and successful conduct of the sporting activities.

The entire programme was conducted under the overall supervision of DYSSO Poonch, Mr. Mohd. Qasim, and Activity Incharge Mr. Vijay Kumar Sharma, whose guidance ensured the smooth and successful conduct of the district and zonal-level sporting activities and selection processes.

The Department of Youth Services & Sports, Poonch, reaffirmed its commitment to providing wider sporting opportunities to young athletes and using the power of sports to promote fitness, discipline, teamwork, leadership and a drug-free society.
