YSS Poonch Organises U-19 Boys & Girls Competition Under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan

POONCH, SEPT  02:-Cluster Surankote emerged as the overall champion in the Inter-Cluster District-Level Kho-Kho Championship for Under-19 boys and girls, organised by the Department of Youth Services & Sports (YSS), Poonch, under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.
The sporting event aimed to promote fitness, discipline, teamwork and a healthy, drug-free lifestyle among youngsters. The programme commenced with the Nasha Mukt Bharat pledge, with participating players, officials and staff pledging to stay away from drugs and contribute towards building a healthier society.
Around 48 boys and 48 girls from different zones of District Poonch participated in the championship, showcasing their sporting talent, athletic abilities and competitive spirit.
Munir Hussain, Headmaster, Government High School Sanai, attended the event as Chief Guest. He interacted with the players and appreciated their enthusiasm, discipline and sporting spirit. He encouraged the youth to actively participate in sports and adopt a healthy and positive lifestyle.
Officers of the Indian Army also interacted with the participating players and motivated them to remain focused on their goals, maintain discipline and pursue sports as a constructive avenue for personal development.
A departmental selection committee was constituted to identify talented players for the District-Level Kho-Kho Team. Selection was based on sporting ability, performance, discipline and teamwork.
The competition was conducted under the supervision of ZPEO Surankote Muzaffar Khawaja and his team, with active support from PEMs, PELs, PETs, Rehbar-e-Khel (ReK) teachers and NYC volunteers.
The event was held under the overall supervision of DYSSO Poonch Mohd. Qasim, with Activity Incharge Vijay Kumar Sharma overseeing the smooth conduct of the championship. The department also made arrangements for TA/DA for participating players.
The YSS Department reiterated that sports can play a crucial role in keeping young people physically active, mentally focused and away from harmful substances. The initiative reinforced the message of “Youth in Sports, Youth Away from Drugs” under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.
The Department of Youth Services & Sports, Poonch, reaffirmed its commitment to providing greater opportunities to young athletes and promoting sports as a means of fostering fitness, discipline, teamwork, leadership and a drug-free society.
