Government Middle School Bhella Issue Should Unite, Not Divide: Waqar Lone Criticizes Political Point-Scoring

RAJOURI, JULY 31:- Zonal President of Pir Panjal Youth National Conference, Waqar Lone, on Friday urged political leaders to refrain from using the issue of Government Middle School Bhella for political mileage, saying the education and future of children should remain above partisan interests.

Expressing concern over the poor condition of the school, Waqar Lone said the demand for a safe and permanent school building is both genuine and long overdue. However, he questioned why those now making loud public statements failed to resolve the issue when they themselves held political power and administrative responsibility.

“The school building reportedly became unsafe years ago. If that is the case, the people have every right to ask why no concrete steps were taken during the period when the same political leaders or their party were in government. Empty statements today cannot compensate for years of neglect,” he said.

Waqar Lone stated that from 2008 onwards, the constituency was represented by leaders who had ample opportunity to address the issue, while the same party also held key positions in the government, including the Education Department. Despite this, students of Bhella continued to study under difficult conditions.

He said that meaningful progress began only after MLA Chaudhary Javed Iqbal actively pursued the matter with the concerned authorities. According to him, the construction process has now gained momentum, with a tender worth ₹45.77 lakh already processed for the construction of a new school building.

“This is a positive step for the people of Bhella. Instead of indulging in blame games, all political parties should welcome development projects that directly benefit students and local residents,” he added.

Waqar Lone also said that the National Conference-led government under Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is committed to strengthening public infrastructure, particularly in remote and underserved areas of the Pir Panjal region. He maintained that improving educational facilities, healthcare institutions, road connectivity, and other essential services remains among the government’s top priorities.

He further appealed to the administration to ensure that construction work begins without unnecessary delay and is completed within the stipulated timeframe so that students can study in a safe, modern, and conducive learning environment.
Calling for responsible politics, Waqar Lone urged public representatives to focus on solving people’s problems rather than seeking publicity.

“Development should be measured by work on the ground, not by press conferences or political rhetoric. The people are aware of who acted when it mattered and who remained silent. Government Middle School Bhella must become an example of progress and collective responsibility, not political confrontation,” he said.
