Smart Schools Promised, Ruined Schools Delivered”: Farooq Inqlabi Slams Government Over Dilapidated School Infrastructure

RAJOURI, JULY 30:- Senior PDP leader Mohammad Farooq Inqlabi has expressed serious concern over the pathetic condition of Government Middle School Bhella, Zone Khawas, District Rajouri, where more than 150 students are enrolled despite the school building being in a dilapidated and unsafe condition.

In a statement issued here, Inqlabi said that during the Assembly election campaign, the ruling party had promised to establish smart schools and strengthen educational infrastructure across Jammu and Kashmir. “The promises made to the people have turned out to be mere election rhetoric. Instead of smart schools, children are being forced to study amid collapsed and unsafe structures,” he said.

Inqlabi said that Government Middle School Bhella was established nearly 60 years ago and has played a historic role in shaping the future of the region. “Thousands of students have received their education from this institution over the decades. Many of them went on to secure government jobs and have even retired after serving the nation. It is unfortunate that a school with such a glorious legacy has today been reduced to ruins due to official neglect,” he said.

Highlighting another alarming issue, Inqlabi said that only one teacher has been deputed to teach all eight classes in the school. “How can a single teacher provide quality education to students from eight different classes? This is not only unfair to the students but also places an impossible burden on the lone teacher. It reflects the complete neglect of the education sector in remote and hilly areas,” he remarked.

The PDP leader said that the condition of Government Middle School Bhella is not an isolated case. “There are hundreds of government schools across Kotranka and Khawas Zones functioning without proper school buildings and adequate teaching staff. Thousands of students are being deprived of their fundamental right to safe and quality education because of the government’s failure to provide basic infrastructure,” he added.

Inqlabi urged the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, CM Omer Abdullah and the School Education Department to immediately sanction a new building for Government Middle School Bhella, fill all vacant teaching posts, and undertake a comprehensive survey of schools in Kotranka and Khawas to ensure that every child has access to safe classrooms and sufficient teachers.

“The future of our children cannot be built on broken promises. The government must stop making announcements during elections and start delivering quality education, proper infrastructure, and adequate teaching staff to every government school. The children of our remote areas deserve dignity, safety, and equal educational opportunities,” Inqlabi said.
