RAJOURI, JULY 18:– In one of the biggest anti-narcotics operations in Rajouri district in recent times, Police Station Darhal has busted a major drug trafficking racket, arresting an alleged drug peddler and recovering 7,660 psychotropic tablets along with ₹9,01,300 in suspected drug proceeds during raids conducted in Darhal and Rajouri town.
The action was carried out under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, dealing a significant blow to the illegal narcotics trade in the region.
According to police, a team from Police Station Darhal intercepted a black Maruti Brezza (Registration No. JK11J-6219) during routine naka checking. The vehicle was being driven by Aijaz-ul-Haq, son of Amin-ul-Haq, a resident of Ujhan, Tehsil Darhal, presently residing at Gujjar Mandi, Rajouri.
During his personal search, police recovered 20 Tramadol tablets (2 strips) and 100 Tapentadol tablets (10 strips). Following the recovery, FIR No. 52/2026 under Sections 8/21/22/25 of the NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Darhal.
Subsequently, the vehicle was searched in the presence of an Executive Magistrate 1st Class, leading to the recovery of 1,200 Pregabalin tablets (120 strips), 600 Tapentadol tablets (60 strips) and ₹57,500 in cash.
During sustained interrogation, the accused disclosed that a large quantity of psychotropic medicines and cash were concealed at his residence in Gujjar Mandi, Rajouri. Acting on the disclosure, police conducted another search in the presence of an Executive Magistrate, recovering 5,340 Tapentadol tablets (534 strips), 400 Pregabalin tablets (40 strips) and ₹8,43,800 in cash, believed to be proceeds of the illegal drug trade.

Police described the seizure as a major breakthrough in the ongoing campaign against narcotics trafficking in Rajouri district.
Investigators are now working to unravel the entire drug distribution network, identify the source of the contraband, trace the financial trail, and establish both the forward and backward linkages of the racket. Police said further arrests and recoveries are likely as the investigation progresses.
The operation underscores the firm commitment of Rajouri Police to dismantling drug syndicates and making the district drug-free under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan.
