POONCH, JULY 14:-The Department of Youth Services & Sports (YSS), Poonch, on Tuesday organised a series of cricket and volleyball matches, coaching camps, fitness activities and awareness programmes across different sports zones of the district as part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
According to the department, a total of 1,151 students and youth participated in the district-wide initiative, which featured competitions for different age groups of boys and girls alongside coaching sessions and fitness drills aimed at promoting physical well-being and a healthy lifestyle.
Cricket and volleyball competitions remained the highlight of the day’s programme, providing young athletes with an opportunity to demonstrate their sporting talent, teamwork and competitive spirit. Coaching camps and fitness sessions were also organised to encourage regular physical activity among participants.
As part of the anti-drug campaign, awareness rallies, interactive sessions and educational programmes were conducted to sensitise students and youth about the harmful effects of drug abuse. Participants were encouraged to adopt sports as a positive way of life and contribute towards building a healthy and drug-free society.
During the programme, all participants took a pledge against drug abuse and reaffirmed their commitment to promoting healthy habits, discipline and the vision of a Drug-Free India.
The activities were organised under the guidance of District Youth Services & Sports Officer (DYSSO) Poonch Mohd Qasim and Activity Incharge Vijay Kumar Sharma, who appreciated the enthusiastic participation of students, teachers, field staff and sports personnel in making the campaign successful.
