RAJOURI, JUNE 30:- Senior PDP leader Mohd Farooq Inqlabi on Tuesday expressed concern over allegations made by National Conference (NC) MLAs from Budhal, Thanamandi and Surankote, who have accused the Deputy Chief Minister of discriminatory allocation of development funds in the Pir Panjal region.

In a statement, Inqlabi said the allegations were unprecedented as they had been levelled by legislators belonging to the Deputy Chief Minister’s own party rather than the opposition. He said that when ruling party MLAs publicly boycott official government programmes and accuse a senior member of the government of favouritism in the distribution of development funds, the matter demands an immediate and transparent response.

He said that if the allegations are true, they point to serious discrimination and misuse of public resources at the cost of the people of Budhal, Thanamandi and Surankote. If the allegations are baseless, the government should place all relevant facts before the public to remove uncertainty and restore confidence.
Questioning the government’s silence, Inqlabi asked why the Deputy Chief Minister continues to hold office despite facing such serious allegations from his own party colleagues. He said the silence of the government has created confusion and raised legitimate concerns among the people.

The PDP leader urged the Chief Minister to personally intervene and order a time-bound, impartial inquiry into the allocation of development funds under all Central and Union Territory-sponsored schemes across the Pir Panjal region. He also demanded that constituency-wise details of fund allocation be made public to ensure transparency and accountability.

Inqlabi maintained that development funds are public resources and should never be distributed on the basis of political considerations or personal preferences. Every Assembly constituency, he said, has an equal right to development, and any discrimination established through due process would be unacceptable and contrary to the principles of good governance.

He added that the people of the Pir Panjal region deserve fairness, transparency and equal opportunities for development, urging the government to address the concerns raised by its own legislators without further delay and ensure equitable development across all constituencies.
