HANDWARA, JUNE 15:-To mark National Surgeons Day, the Association of Surgeons of India (ASI), J&K Chapter, in collaboration with the Department of Surgery and the Department of Transfusion Medicine, Government Medical College (GMC) Handwara, organised a Blood Donation Camp at the institution today.
The camp witnessed enthusiastic participation from healthcare professionals representing various specialties, as well as members of civil society, who voluntarily donated blood in support of the noble cause. The initiative aimed to promote voluntary blood donation and raise awareness about the importance of maintaining an adequate blood supply for patients in need.
Among the notable donors was Medical Superintendent of the Associated District Hospital, GMC Handwara, Dr. Aijaz Ahmad, who also donated blood and encouraged healthcare workers and the general public to actively participate in voluntary blood donation drives.
Speaking on the occasion, the organisers appreciated the overwhelming response from donors and highlighted that a single unit of donated blood has the potential to save multiple lives. They stressed the importance of regular blood donation in strengthening healthcare services and ensuring timely support for patients requiring transfusions.
The organisers expressed gratitude to all donors, healthcare professionals, volunteers, and participants for making the event a success and reaffirmed their commitment to organising similar awareness and blood donation programmes in the future.
