SRINAGAR, JUNE 15:-Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday chaired a comprehensive meeting to review preparations for the forthcoming Muharram observances across Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Chief Minister, Cabinet Ministers, concerned MLAs, senior government officers and representatives of various Shia organisations, who shared valuable suggestions and inputs regarding arrangements for the holy month.
During the review, the Chief Minister emphasized the need for coordinated efforts by all departments to ensure smooth and hassle-free observance of Muharram. He directed the concerned authorities to put in place all necessary arrangements, including uninterrupted power and drinking water supply, adequate healthcare facilities, sanitation measures, traffic regulation and other essential public services.
Omar Abdullah stressed that devotees should be able to observe Muharram with dignity, safety and convenience. He instructed officials to remain proactive in addressing public concerns and ensure that all arrangements are completed well in advance.
The administration has been asked to maintain close coordination with local representatives and Shia organisations to facilitate the smooth conduct of religious gatherings and processions across the Union Territory.
