JAMMU, JUNE 01:-In a matter of pride and honour for the Pir Panjal region, senior engineer Er. Shahid Latif Mir, presently serving as Superintending Engineer (Mechanical), Jammu, has been entrusted with the routine functions of the post of Chief Engineer (Mechanical), Jammu by the Government of Jammu and Kashmir.
The assignment was made through Government Order No. 185-PW (R&B) of 2026 dated June 1, 2026, issued by the Public Works (R&B) Department. As per the order, Er. Shahid Latif Mir will look after the routine functions of the Chief Engineer (Mechanical), Jammu, in addition to his existing responsibilities, until the post is filled on a regular basis.
Hailing from the Pir Panjal region, Er. Shahid Latif Mir is widely known for his professional competence, administrative acumen, and dedicated service in the Mechanical Engineering wing. His elevation to this important responsibility has been welcomed by colleagues, well-wishers, and residents of the region, who view it as recognition of merit and hard work.
The government stated that the arrangement has been made in the interest of administration and to ensure the smooth functioning of developmental works across the Union Territory.
The development is being seen as a significant achievement for the Pir Panjal region, with many describing it as a proud moment that one of its distinguished sons has been entrusted with the responsibilities of such a prestigious post in the Public Works Department.
