Rajouri Police Detains Notorious Drug Peddler Under PIT-NDPS Act

RAJOURI, JUNE 01:- In a significant action against drug trafficking, Rajouri Police has detained a notorious drug peddler under the provisions of the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (PIT-NDPS Act) as part of its intensified campaign against the narcotics menace.
The accused, identified as Nahid Choudhary, son of Mohd Shafi, resident of Ward No. 13, Peer Kanju, Rajouri, was reportedly involved in multiple cases related to drug peddling and narcotics trafficking. Taking serious note of his continued involvement in illegal drug-related activities, the competent authority issued detention orders under the PIT-NDPS Act.
Following the issuance of the detention warrant, the accused was taken into custody and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot Bhalwal.
Police officials stated that the preventive detention has been invoked to curb the activities of habitual drug traffickers and to ensure public safety. The action forms part of Rajouri Police’s sustained crackdown on drug smuggling networks operating in the district.
Rajouri Police reiterated its commitment to eliminating the drug menace and protecting the younger generation from the harmful effects of substance abuse. The department has urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by sharing information related to drug trafficking and narcotics activities.
The operation has been carried out under the ongoing “Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan”, aimed at creating a drug-free society and strengthening preventive measures against narcotics-related crimes.
