Inter-School District Level Rugby Trials Held Successfully at Surankote Under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan

POONCH MAY 18:-Department of Youth Services & Sports Poonch successfully conducted the Inter-School District Level Trial-cum-Selection in Rugby for boys and girls at Government Middle School Hurmi Dhaki under the banner of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.

The event was organized as per the activity calendar issued by the Directorate of Youth Services & Sports, Jammu & Kashmir, with the aim of promoting sports culture and identifying young sporting talent across District Poonch.

Around 107 students from various schools and zones of the district participated enthusiastically in the rugby trials, displaying impressive discipline, sportsmanship, fitness, and competitive spirit throughout the selection process.

During the programme, participants, officials, and staff members also took a pledge against drug abuse, emphasizing the importance of sports and constructive activities in building a healthy and drug-free society.

The event was organized under the overall supervision of Mohd Qasim, whose efforts towards youth development through sports were widely appreciated. The smooth conduct of the programme was managed by Activity Incharge Vijay Kumar Sharma.

The trials were conducted under the supervision of Muzaffar Khawja along with a selection committee comprising experienced officials, PETs, and REKs of the department. Headmistress Zaneet Kousar attended the event as Chief Guest and encouraged students to actively participate in sports and physical activities.

Officials observed the technical skills, fitness, coordination, and game temperament of players during the trials. The selected athletes will now represent District Poonch in upcoming inter-district and divisional rugby competitions.

Officials of the department highlighted that such events help in identifying hidden talent from remote areas while encouraging youth to remain engaged in positive and healthy activities. They reiterated the department’s commitment towards strengthening sports culture, physical fitness, discipline, and teamwork among students across the district.
