RAJOURI/MADINA ,MAY 15:- Administrator Waqf Board Rajouri and former DDC Member Thannamandi, Abdul Qayoom Mir, has called upon MLAs from Rajouri-Poonch and Chenab Valley to unite against what he described as the long-standing neglect and discrimination faced by the Pir Panjal region.
In a Facebook post, Mir praised Hon’ble MLA Thanamandi, Muzaffar Khan, for openly raising the issues of injustice and underdevelopment allegedly faced by Rajouri-Poonch under the present NC-led government. He termed Muzaffar Khan as the “first among the coalition supporters” to speak strongly on behalf of the region.
Mir alleged that the people of Rajouri-Poonch have suffered decades of political neglect, claiming that development priorities remained centered around Kashmir while Pir Panjal and Chenab Valley continued to lag behind in infrastructure, employment, and public services.
He also expressed disappointment over the silence of other MLAs from the region, except MLA Kalakote, saying that elected representatives should prioritize public welfare over political considerations.
Calling for political unity, Mir urged all MLAs from Rajouri-Poonch, irrespective of party affiliations, to come together in support of a Jammu division-focused coalition that could ensure equitable development and greater representation for neglected regions including Rajouri, Poonch, Doda, and Kishtwar.
Referring to former leader Choudhary Talib Hussain, Mir said that bold political decisions taken in the past had helped secure employment opportunities for hundreds of unemployed youth in departments like PHE and others.
He further stated that the BJP-led Union Government has sanctioned major development projects for Jammu & Kashmir, particularly in the Pir Panjal region, including tunnels, bridges, highway upgrades, railway projects, PMGSY roads, and NABARD-funded infrastructure works.
Mir emphasized that these projects should directly benefit the people of Pir Panjal and other backward areas rather than being “diverted for political gains.”
He expressed hope that MLA Thanamandi would receive support from MLA Kalakote and other elected representatives from Rajouri-Poonch and Chenab Valley in raising the region’s concerns and pushing for inclusive development.
