Rajouri, July,15: District Development Commissioner, Rajouri,Mohammad Aijaz Asad today convened a meeting with the officials of the Border Road Organisation in order to review the progress on the road projects being executed by the BRO.
The meeting also discussed up-gradation, strengthening and resurfacing work of all major GREF roads in the district,District Development Commissioner took a detailed note of the roads being maintained/ executed by the BRO in the district,the roads includes Rajouri-Thanamandi Road, Rajouri-poonch Highway,kalakote Road,kaller-keri road,Rajouri Kandi Budhal Road,Daraj Bridge and Dalli Bridge.
Taking serious note of dilapidated condition of Rajouri-Thanamandi road, the DDC fixed timeline of one week for filling up of all potholes, improving drainage and removal of encroachment alongside the road and also sought the information that why the work on the widening has not been started yet.The officer of the Border Road organisation informed the Rajouri-Thanamandi road is 22km long and first 3.9 Km has been concretised and the widening of the road shall be taken up shortly. DDC asked the agency to place indent so that Land Acquisition proceedings could be initiated.
DDC directed the officers of the BRO to immediately placed the indent so that land acquisition process can be started.
The concerned officer also informed that resurfacing work of Jammu-Poonch National highway has been completed and installation of road safety features like cat eyes, crash barriers etc alongside National Highway have also been completed on 10 km of accident prone stretches.DDC further asked the officer to keep their men and machinery ready,in the wake of the Shri Budha Amarnath,during any emergency.
Taking note of the Kallar-Keri Road ,it was informed that the work on Blacktopping of the said road is in progress and will be completed in two months,DDC asked them to take up the work from kaller main chowk towards the Keri as well.
While reviewing, Rajouri-Kalakote Road,it was informed that 4km stretch has been blacktopped,RBM has been done on 14km and the road will be completed within 6 months.It was also informed that the widening as well as Blacktopping of the Rajouri Kandi Budhal Road is under progress.
Regarding the shifting of utilities of PDD,it was informed that the bridge is complete and there is an issue of payment for shifting of utilities,DDC asked the officer of the power development department to submit a factual report in this matter.The officer of the BRO also informed that Daraj bride is also complete in all respects.
