District Administration Poonch Extends Holi Greetings; Participates in Shobha Yatra

POONCH, MARCH 04:- The Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Ashok Kumar Sharma, along with the Senior Superintendent of Police Poonch, Shafket Hussain Bhat, today visited the Sanatan Dharam Sabha and extended warm Holi greetings to the people and members of the Management Committee.

The officers were accorded a cordial reception by the Management Committee and prominent citizens. Interacting with the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner conveyed his heartfelt greetings to the residents of the district and highlighted the cultural and social importance of Holi as a festival that strengthens bonds of unity, brotherhood, and communal harmony. He appreciated the participation of people from different communities and lauded the spirit of togetherness displayed on the occasion.

The Senior Superintendent of Police also extended his warm wishes to the public and emphasized the need to preserve the district’s long-standing tradition of mutual respect and peaceful coexistence. He stated that festivals like Holi provide an opportunity to reinforce communal harmony and social cohesion. The SSP appreciated the cooperation of the public in maintaining law and order during festive occasions and assured that the Police Department remains committed to ensuring a safe and secure environment for all citizens. He urged people to celebrate responsibly while upholding the values of peace, discipline, and unity.

Among others present on the occasion were Additional Deputy Commissioner Tahir Mustafa Malik; Additional Superintendent of Police Mohan Lal; Tehsildar Haveli Azhar Majid; DySP Headquarters Neeraj Sharma; Tehsildar Headquarters Pallvi Verma; and other senior officers from the District Administration and Police Department.

The Deputy Commissioner and SSP also participated in the grand Shobha Yatra that commenced from Geeta Bhawan Mandir. A large number of devotees and residents joined the procession, which passed through various parts of the city amid vibrant celebrations marked by colours, devotional music, and festivity.

On the occasion, the DC and SSP exchanged colours as a gesture symbolizing mutual respect and communal harmony. Members of the Sikh community and people from all walks of life enthusiastically participated in the celebrations, reflecting the composite culture and inclusive ethos of Poonch district.

Holi was celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm across all tehsils of the district. In his concluding message, the Deputy Commissioner called upon the people to continue nurturing the spirit of unity and brotherhood beyond festivals and to work collectively for the peace, progress, and prosperity of the district.
