JAMMU FEBRUARY 20:-Chief Minister Omar Abdullah addressed concerns regarding recent administrative measures in Kishtwar, stating that the decision was taken following consultations with local stakeholders ahead of the holy month of Ramadan.

Speaking during the Assembly session, Omar said that directions had been issued to all Deputy Commissioners across Jammu and Kashmir to hold consultations at the district level. “In Kishtwar, religious leaders themselves raised concerns about fake NGOs collecting Zakat and donations without transparency. They requested regulation to prevent misuse,” he said.
He clarified that the subsequent order was issued in response to these concerns and has been welcomed by local religious leaders in the district.

Emphasizing the need for responsible discourse, the Chief Minister urged political parties and stakeholders not to politicize administrative decisions. “We should not politicize every administrative decision. Matters must be viewed in their proper context before drawing conclusions,” he remarked.

The statement comes amid discussions over regulatory measures concerning charitable collections during Ramadan, with the government maintaining that the move aims to ensure transparency and safeguard public trust.
