RAJOURI FEBRUARY 20:-Paramedical and nursing staff at Government Medical College (GMC) Associated Hospital Rajouri, along with their counterparts in various government hospitals across Jammu & Kashmir, observed a two-hour strike on Thursday to protest against the recent decision of the Finance Department to deduct two days’ salaries.
The protest witnessed participation from nursing staff, paramedics, and other healthcare workers, who temporarily suspended routine services while ensuring that emergency and critical care services remained unaffected.

The agitating employees expressed strong resentment over what they termed as an “unjust and demoralizing” move by the Finance Department. They said the decision to deduct two days’ wages has caused widespread dissatisfaction among healthcare workers who have been rendering essential services under challenging conditions.

Protesters gathered within hospital premises, raising slogans and demanding immediate revocation of the salary deduction order. They urged the government to reconsider the decision and address their concerns at the earliest.

Similar demonstrations were reported from other government hospitals across the Union Territory, reflecting a unified stand by the paramedical and nursing fraternity.

The protesting staff warned that if their demands are not met, they may be compelled to intensify their agitation in the coming days.

Meanwhile, hospital authorities monitored the situation to ensure that patient care services did not suffer during the protest period.
