MENDHAR FEBRUARY 16:-A massive public gathering was organized at Mendhar Bus Stand by senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and District Development Council (DDC) Member, Headquarters Mendhar, Engineer Wajid Bashir Khan Tickoo, marking what party leaders described as the third historic public meeting under his leadership.
The event witnessed the participation of BJP District President Gurmeet Singh Khalsa, senior party functionaries, social activists, youth, and residents from across the Mendhar Sub-Division.

On the occasion, the newly constructed Clock Tower at Mendhar and a grand Entry Gate at Sakhi Maidan were formally inaugurated. The two structures are being seen as new landmarks symbolizing development and civic identity in the town. The gathering was marked by enthusiasm and strong public participation.

Addressing the meeting, BJP District President Gurmeet Singh Khalsa lauded Engineer Tickoo’s leadership and said that the pace of development in Mendhar during his tenure as DDC Member has been significant. He said the large turnout reflected public trust and confidence in his work.

Presenting his development report card, Engineer Wajid Bashir Khan Tickoo highlighted various works undertaken during his tenure. He said the Clock Tower represents pride and identity for Mendhar and outlined improvements made in road connectivity, playground development, installation of hand pumps, strengthening of drinking water facilities, enhancement of electricity supply, and upgradation of educational and civic infrastructure across the Sub-Division. He reiterated his commitment to equitable development and timely delivery of essential services.

Referring to the grant of Scheduled Tribe status to the Pahari community, Tickoo termed it a historic milestone. He recalled the long-standing demand of over seven decades and mentioned the efforts made to secure recognition, including joining the Bharatiya Janata Party along with supporters and organizing a foot march from Mendhar to Rajouri. He said the march culminated in a rally addressed by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, which played a key role in fulfilling the demand.
In his address, Tickoo also criticized opposition parties, including the Jammu & Kashmir National Conference, alleging that they had focused on vote-bank politics rather than development. He asserted that the BJP government has prioritized grassroots development and welfare of marginalized communities.
Concluding the event, Engineer Tickoo thanked the people of Mendhar for their continued support and pledged to further accelerate infrastructure development, improve civic amenities, and create greater opportunities for youth in the region.

The meeting concluded with party workers and supporters reaffirming their commitment to the vision of development and empowerment in Mendhar.
