JAMMU FEBRUARY 14:-Senior advocate and social activist Sheikh Shakeel has levelled serious allegations against BJP MLA Vikram Randhawa, accusing him of being involved in the alleged encroachment of around 8 kanal of land belonging to the Jammu Development Authority (JDA) at Chak Ganeshu in Tehsil Mandal, District Jammu.

In a video message circulated on social media, Shakeel claimed that the land under Khasra No. 211 is recorded as JDA property and alleged that a stone crusher unit is currently operating at the site. He stated that, as per information attributed to officials of the Jammu Development Authority, the land belongs to the authority and questioned how any private activity could be permitted there.

Shakeel called upon MLA Randhawa to publicly clarify his position on the matter and urged the concerned authorities to verify the status of the land records. “If any encroachment is found, appropriate action must be taken strictly in accordance with the law,” he said, stressing that public representatives are duty-bound to uphold transparency and accountability.

Referring to recent media remarks allegedly made by the MLA regarding encroachments on JDA land, Shakeel expressed strong objection to what he described as attempts to link the issue with a particular community. He asserted that encroachment is a legal matter and should not be “given any communal colour.”

He further alleged that in the Marble Market area of Jammu, significant portions of JDA land are under alleged encroachment, where banquet halls, gyms, and even a news channel office are reportedly operating. Shakeel demanded that authorities conduct a comprehensive survey of all such properties to determine their legal status.

“An MLA represents the entire public and not a single community. The issue of encroachment must be addressed impartially and without bias,” Shakeel stated.

Meanwhile, the advocate has appealed to the Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir, who also serves as Chairman of the Jammu Development Authority, to initiate an impartial and time-bound inquiry into the matter. He emphasized that restoring public confidence requires a transparent investigation and strict action wherever violations are established.

At the time of filing this report, there has been no official response from MLA Vikram Randhawa or the Jammu Development Authority regarding the allegations.
