SRINAGAR FEBRUARY 11:-The Shah Re Khass Traders and Chambers (SKT&C) recently participated in a seminar focused on key economic and trade-related issues, including a detailed discussion on the recent budget allocation and financial planning.

The SKT&C delegation comprising Mr. Javed Ahmad Bhat, Wasim Ahmed Khan, Irfan Bashir, and Firdous Ahmad Beigh actively took part in the deliberations and shared their perspectives on the prevailing trade scenario and the broader economic environment.

During the session, the representatives expressed serious concern over what they described as the neglect of the general trade sector in the recent budget by both the state and central governments. They stated that minimal attention has been given to the needs and challenges of traders, leading to disappointment within the business community.

The delegation emphasized that the general trade sector plays a significant role in sustaining the economy and supporting local livelihoods. Despite facing prolonged economic downturns, crises, and challenging business conditions, traders have continued to operate with resilience and determination. However, they noted that the absence of targeted support measures in the budget has left many traders feeling overlooked and undervalued.

The SKT&C members highlighted that during difficult times, traders have risked their personal and financial stability to keep their businesses running. While their commitment remains steadfast, they stressed that sustained growth and recovery are not possible without meaningful governmental support.

The traders urged the government to reconsider its approach and introduce dedicated packages and schemes for the general trade sector. Suggested measures include financial assistance, tax relief, easier credit facilities, and capacity-building programs for small and medium traders. Such initiatives, they said, would strengthen the sector and enable it to contribute more effectively to economic development.

Raqib Altaf Shah, Chief Spokesperson of Shah Re Khass Traders and Chambers, reiterated the organization’s appeal for constructive engagement and timely intervention to safeguard the interests of the trading community.
