RAJOURI FEBRUARY 10:-The Motor Vehicles Department (MVD), Rajouri, has cancelled the driving licences of two drivers after an official probe found them responsible for a fatal road accident on National Highway-144A at Dhallian on February 9, 2026.
The accident involved a Tempo Traveller (JK11G-9495) and a Tipper (JK11E-0570), which collided head-on, resulting in grievous injuries to five persons. Following the collision, one of the vehicles skidded off the highway and plunged towards the riverside, worsening the impact of the mishap.
An on-the-spot inspection conducted by MVD officials revealed that both vehicles were being driven rashly and negligently, posing a serious threat to public safety. Acting on the findings, the Licensing Authority ordered the cancellation of Driving Licence No. JK11-20140042441 issued to Sajad Ahmed Jaral and Driving Licence No. JK11-20160057843 issued to Nirbair Singh.
Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO), Rajouri, Rajesh Gupta, said the department maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards traffic violations that endanger human lives. He reiterated that strict enforcement of road safety norms will continue and urged motorists to follow traffic rules and drive responsibly to prevent avoidable tragedies.
The Motor Vehicles Department reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring safer roads across Rajouri district, warning that stringent action will be taken against anyone found indulging in rash or negligent driving.
