Rajouri July 11: In order to finalise the convergence plan in respect of Rajouri district, the District Development Commissioner Rajouri Mohammad Aijaz Asad today convened a meeting with the concerned officers here in the Conference Hall of PWD dakbunglow.
The meeting was attended by Superintending Engineer PHE Rajouri, Assistant Commissioner Development, Divisional forest officer social forestry, chief agricultural officer, chief horticulture officer, Divisional forest officer Rajouri/Nowshera, Executive Engineer irrigation and flood control Rajouri/Nowshera, District soil conservation officer, Deputy director sericulture, District panchayat officer, Assistant Director fisheries and other concerned officers.
During the meeting the officers of the different departments informed about their works to be taken up in convergence mode.
The Chief horticulture officer said that the work of plantation,maintenance and removal of grass at four nurseries located at siot, Budhal,Rajnagar and Rajouri is to be done in convergence mode with MGNREGA. The DDC directed him to start the work immediately.
Regarding IWMP, the concerned officer informed that there are 312 works of different nature in the district which are to be executed with the labour component of MGNREGA. These include water tanks, check dams, Bawlis,protection bunds etc.
While taking stock of sericulture department, the deputy director sericulture informed that near about fourty thousand plants are to be planted in the district and fencing of nurseries is to be done in convergence with MGREGA. He said that the the work of plantation shall start in december.
While taking stock of fisheries, the Assistant Director fisheries informed that the work on fish pond at Muradpur will be executed shortly in convergence mode with labour component of MGNREGA. The DDC directed him to formulate a plan in convergence mode for the construction of two fish ponds, one at Rajouri and the other at Budhal. He assured that the land for the construction of these ponds shall be identified soon by revenue department.
Regarding the forest department,DFO Rajouri and Nowshera were instructed to use the funds in the work of rejuvenation of degraded forests and plantation of more and more trees so as to maintain the environmental balance. He directed them to start the work of digging for which the labour component shall be provided from MGNREGA. The DDC also asked DFOs to formulate a plan for fire lines so that forest fires can be prevented during summers. He also directed them to make plan for rejuvination of water bodies and creation of new ponds within limits of forests for water recharging purpose.
In connection with the plantation drive in the district, it was informed that about 4.35 lakhs plants are to be planted in the district by different departments in convergence mode including forest department, sericulture, horticulture and social forestry. The DDC said that NGOs shall also be included in the process of plantation. He added that the plantation drive shall be completed in a single day. He also directed the concerned officers to ensure maximum visibility and impact of this drive.
DDC stressed upon the officers to put in place extra efforts for judicious and effective utilization of funds besides removing bottlenecks hindering developmental works.He further stressed on convergences of resources of different departments for better results on the ground to meet the aspirations of the public.
