Pir Panjal Region Best Suited for National Law University: Vibodh Gupta

RAJOURI FEBRUARY 05:-Former Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) and senior BJP leader from the Pir Panjal region, Vibodh Gupta, on Tuesday reiterated his firm and unequivocal demand that the proposed National Law University (NLU) in Jammu and Kashmir must be established in the Rajouri–Poonch district of the Jammu Province.

In a statement, Gupta said that locating the NLU in Rajouri–Poonch would serve the larger public interest by ensuring better accessibility and promoting inclusive and balanced regional development. He emphasized that the Pir Panjal region has long remained underserved in terms of premier educational institutions, and the establishment of a National Law University would be a transformative step for the area.

“The demand is not political but rooted in equity and justice. Rajouri–Poonch is geographically central to the Pir Panjal belt and would provide equal opportunities to students from remote and border areas,” Gupta said.

He further added that the presence of an NLU would boost academic excellence, create employment opportunities, and contribute to socio-economic growth in the region. Gupta urged the Union Government and the Jammu and Kashmir administration to take a pragmatic and people-centric decision while finalizing the location of the prestigious institution.

The senior BJP leader also appealed to all stakeholders to support the demand in the interest of regional balance and the future of youth from the Pir Panjal region.
