“My Youth My Pride” District Poonch Ball Badminton Championship Concludes Successfully

POONCH JANUARY 30:-The “My Youth My Pride” District Poonch Ball Badminton Championship 2025–26 concluded successfully on Tuesday with a felicitation ceremony for winners and runner-up teams at Carmel School Chandak, Poonch. The two-day championship was held from January 27 to 28.

The event was organized by the District Poonch Ball Badminton Association in collaboration with the J&K Ball Badminton Association under the “My Youth My Pride” initiative of the J&K Sports Council, which also sponsored the championship.

As many as 15 teams, comprising around 150 players from various schools, colleges, institutions, and clubs of District Poonch, participated in the tournament. The championship witnessed enthusiastic participation and showcased high standards of discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

The prize distribution ceremony was graced by Principal Carmel School Chandak, Mrs. Jisha Maria, as Chief Guest. Other dignitaries present included Ms. Stephy, Manager Carmel School Poonch, Mr. Owais-ud-Din, KIC Mentor Badminton Poonch, and Mr. Saval Ahmad, KIC Mentor Hockey Poonch, who attended as Guests of Honour.

Mr. Owais-ud-Din and Mr. Saval Ahmad were also deputed by the J&K Sports Council as observers to oversee the championship and ensure adherence to prescribed norms. Their role was formally acknowledged by the organizers.

The championship was conducted under the overall supervision of Mr. Manzoor Ahmad Lone and supported by district officials Mr. Mohd Sohail, Mr. Ajaz Ahmad, Mr. Israr Ahmad, Mr. Mohd Rayaz, and Mr. Tahir Yaseen, whose coordinated efforts ensured the smooth conduct of the event.

Organizing Secretary Mr. Mohd Akram, along with other members of the J&K Ball Badminton Association, was also present and distributed medals to the winning and runner-up teams.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Mrs. Jisha Maria lauded the performance, discipline, and dedication of the young players and encouraged them to continue working hard to excel at higher levels and bring laurels to Jammu & Kashmir.

The championship concluded on a positive note, reinforcing the commitment of the J&K Sports Council and its affiliated associations towards strengthening sports culture and nurturing young talent at the grassroots level.
