RAJOURI JANUARY 28:-In line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) Rajouri, in collaboration with the Zonal Education Office (ZEO) Doongi, organised a one-day capacity-building workshop on PARAKH (Performance Assessment, Review and Analysis of Knowledge) at Higher Secondary School (HSS) Chingus.

The workshop saw the participation of teachers, masters, and headmasters from various schools of Zone Doongi and Cluster Chingus. The initiative aimed to enhance assessment literacy among educators and promote a shift from rote-based examinations to competency-based, continuous, and holistic evaluation.

PARAKH, a flagship assessment reform initiative under NEP 2020, focuses on evaluating students’ conceptual understanding, critical thinking, and application of knowledge. The framework helps in early identification of learning gaps and supports targeted academic interventions to improve overall learning outcomes.

The technical sessions were conducted by resource persons Mr. Sajad Bhat and Mr. Mohd Farooq, who delivered detailed presentations on assessment reforms envisaged under NEP 2020, classroom-based assessment strategies, effective use of assessment data, and systematic methods to bridge learning gaps.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sajad Bhat described PARAKH as a transformative step in the education system. He said the initiative marks a paradigm shift by focusing on understanding learners rather than merely evaluating performance, thereby empowering both students and teachers.

Mr. Mohd Farooq highlighted the role of assessment in effective teaching, stating that PARAKH equips teachers with scientific and child-centric tools to objectively evaluate student progress and plan instruction more effectively.
Addressing the participants, ZEO Doongi, Mr. Mohd Anwar Hussain, stressed the importance of accountability and transparency in implementing the new assessment framework. He said the implementation of PARAKH would be closely monitored at the zonal level and urged teachers to perform their duties with honesty and commitment.
He also appreciated DIET Rajouri for organising the workshop and lauded the efforts of the resource persons for their practical and insightful sessions.
Participants actively engaged in discussions and expressed satisfaction over the relevance and applicability of the training. The workshop concluded with a collective resolve to implement PARAKH in its true spirit to strengthen learner-centric and transparent assessment practices in schools across Zone Doongi.
