MENDHAR DECM 24:-Former Member of Legislative Council (MLC) Adv. Murtaza Ahmed Khan has delivered a strong and forward-looking message to the youth of the Pir Panchal region, urging them to recognize their historic responsibility and take charge of shaping their own future through awareness, skills and principled leadership.
Addressing the present generation as the most decisive force of the current era, Adv. Khan said the youth are not merely the custodians of tomorrow but the drivers of today. He emphasized that the destiny of Pir Panchal depends on how young people think, act and organize themselves at this crucial stage of history.
Calling for a shift in mindset, the former MLC appealed to the youth to move beyond the narrow obsession with government jobs and contractor culture. “The world is changing rapidly, and those who fail to adapt will be left behind,” he said, urging young people to acquire modern skills, embrace technology, and explore opportunities in tourism, trade and entrepreneurship to compete in a globalized economy.
Adv. Khan strongly cautioned against hate-driven and divisive politics, warning that certain political elements exploit youth divisions for personal gain. He said leaders driven by greed for wealth, property and power often manipulate discord to serve their own interests. “Do not become fuel for such politics,” he asserted, adding that unity is the true strength of the region.
He also urged the youth to reject blind followership and slogan-based politics. “Do not judge a leader by the color of his vest or the loudness of his slogans,” he said, stressing that leadership must be evaluated on performance, integrity and accountability. He encouraged young people to question their leaders and demand transparency.
Highlighting the dangers of religious, sectarian and class-based divisions, Adv. Khan warned that hypocritical forces misuse religion as a political tool. Such elements, he said, use the shoulders of innocent youth to climb to power, leaving behind chaos and disillusionment.
On the issue of Scheduled Tribe (ST) status, he described it as an important gateway to social justice and development for the people of Pir Panchal, while emphasizing that progress ultimately depends on hard work, discipline and dedication.
Expressing grave concern over the rising menace of drug abuse, Adv. Khan termed drugs a curse eroding the social fabric of the region. He called upon the youth to act as vigilant guardians of their localities and resist drug networks, cautioning that even some political elements are allegedly complicit in this destructive trade.
Concluding his message, Adv. Murtaza Ahmed Khan said the land, honor and dignity of Pir Panchal are a sacred trust in the hands of its youth. He urged them to move forward with unity, confidence and self-belief, and to assume leadership roles instead of waiting for saviors.
“Lead from the front, protect your land, defend your values and shape your own destiny,” he said, ending with a resolute call: Long live Pir Panchal.
