**Family Alleges Departmental Negligence, Seeks Government Job as Compensation**
RAJOURI NOV 06:-A tragic incident unfolded this morning at Chack Jarralan, Bagnoti, where an ex-serviceman, Abdul Rashid, son of Mir Hussain, lost his life after coming into contact with a high-voltage electric wire around 9 a.m.
According to eyewitnesses, Abdul Rashid was working in his field when he noticed a wild monkey damaging stored grass bundles. While attempting to chase it away, he accidentally touched a support wire connected to an electric pole, which was reportedly live and carrying high voltage. The powerful current electrocuted him instantly, leaving him severely charred.
Local resident Mohd Farooq told reporters that the current had spread across the field due to a faulty connection. “His entire body was burnt due to the electric shock. The wire was dangerously exposed, and no one from the department had addressed the issue despite prior complaints,” he said.
The bereaved family, reeling under shock, has accused the electricity department of negligence and demanded accountability. “We have lost our only breadwinner because of the department’s carelessness. We seek justice and urge the government to provide a job to one of the family members as compensation,” the relatives appealed.
Residents of the area have also called on the district administration to initiate a thorough probe into the incident and take strict action against those responsible for the lapse.
