POONCH OCT 27:-As part of the YSS Activity Calendar 2025–26, the Inter-District UT Level Cricket Competition (Under-17 Girls) concluded today at Poonch, witnessing spirited participation from 14 districts across Jammu & Kashmir.
The final match, played between District Kulgam and District Srinagar, turned out to be a thrilling contest. Batting first, Srinagar scored 93 runs for 3 wickets in 15 overs. In reply, Kulgam successfully chased the target, with Mimara playing a decisive knock of 27 runs and earning the title of Player of the Match. With this victory, District Kulgam was crowned the UT Champion in the Under-17 Girls category.
The final match was held at the Sports Stadium Poonch and was graced by DySP HQ Neeraj Kumar Sharma as the Chief Guest. Addressing the young athletes, he encouraged them with the message —
> “Say no to drugs, yes to sports.”
He appreciated the Department’s continuous efforts to promote youth engagement, sportsmanship, and a healthy lifestyle among the youth of Jammu & Kashmir.
The competitions were organized under the esteemed leadership of Smt. Anuradha Gupta (JKAS), Director General, Youth Services and Sports, J&K UT, and under the guidance of Smt. Vinakshi Koul (JKAS), Joint Director YSS. The entire event was conducted under the supervision of Mr. Mohd Qasim, DYSSO Poonch, who commended the enthusiasm and discipline displayed by all participants and reiterated the Department’s commitment to nurturing grassroots sporting talent.
A Selection Committee, constituted by the Directorate of YSS, ensured a transparent and merit-based selection process to identify outstanding players who will represent the Union Territory at higher levels.
Mr. Vijay Kumar, Activity Incharge, played a pivotal role in coordinating and ensuring the smooth conduct of the event. Dedicated officials from ZPEO, PEL, PEM, PET, and REK actively contributed to maintaining fairness and discipline throughout the tournament.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Mohd Qasim (DYSSO Poonch) lauded the contributions of all players, coaches, and officials, emphasizing that such events embody the true mission of the Department of Youth Services and Sports — to empower youth and promote holistic development through sports across the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.
