District administration Rajouri organises Mega Kisan Mela under Back2Village program at Hanjana Thakara

Rajouri June 27: As a part of ambitious Back to Village programme, the department of agriculture today organised a Mega Kisan Mela at Hanjana Panchayat of block Nowhera of Rajouri district to create awareness among the farmers about the agricultural technology and to motivate them to bring revolutionary development in the field of agriculture.

The Mela was inaugurated by the District Development Commissioner Rajouri Mohammad Aijaz Asad.The Chief Agricultural officer Janak Raj and other district and sectoral officers were also present on the occasion.

After inaugurating the kisan Mela DDC inspected the stalls installed by various government departments, Agriculture, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Revenue, J&K Bank, Health etc, to educate the rural masses about the development schemes.The important schemes and programmes on which light was thrown include pradhan mantri suraksha bima yojana, pradhan mantri jeevan jyoti bima yojana, PM employment generation scheme,PM mudra yojana,PM kisan, soil health card scheme, beti bachao beti padhao, old age and widow pension scheme and other schemes being imply by labour and horticulture department.

While speaking on the occasion the DDC urged the farmers to keep themselves updated with the new welfare schemes and programmes organised from time to time by the government and also motivated them to use the high yielding seed varieties to ensure maximum production. He also advised the progressive framers that beside traditional crops they also have to grow cash crops which will further increase the per capita income of the farmers.He asked the Department of Agriculture to conduct soil test of the panchayats.

While speaking on the Back2village programme,DDC said the aim is to bridge the gap between the achievable and achieved goals in development, take governance to the doorsteps of rural and inaccessible areas and generate credible and empirical feedback.The programme is primarily aimed at energizing the panchayats and directing development efforts in rural areas through community participation.He also disclosed that the cooperation and feedback of the public is pivotal for the success of the Programme.He appealed the PRI members to own the programme and schemes being implemented in the district so that the benefits get percolated downward. It was pointed out that ambitious and unique Back2village programme has witnessed unprecedented participation and enthusiasm among people at Panchayat level.
