Rajouri, June 25-:-Commuters have been facing difficulties due to lack of basic facilities at the Rajouri bus stand.*

In these summer days when passengers prefer cold water no arrangements like water cooler have been provided. Passengers are forced to drink tap water or have to buy water bottles from the stalls on the platforms.

The condition of the bus stand is pathetic and it is in dire need of attention. Hundreds of buses ply from the bus stand where passengers have to suffer due to lack of infrastructure, causing inconvenience to passengers.

The washrooms are not only in poor condition but the stench from them pervades the nearby atmosphere, making it difficult for passengers to sit near them or pass them by squeezing their nose with hands. This despite the Central Government having launched many programmes like the Swachh Bharat Mission, is very disgusting on the part of the local government.

Heaps of garbage are seen everywhere around and no dustbins have been provided. It seems the department is more concerned about making money through fee and charges, but it is hardly concerned about the maintenance of the bus stand.

Mehmood Khan, a resident from Rajouri, said, “He visits the bus stand almost every day and every time he faces same problems like no cold water drinking facilities, dirty toilets and no proper seating arrangements.” We have brought the matter to the notice of the authorities concerned, but they ignored it, he added.
