Rajouri Boxer Yassar Gets Land and Education Sponsorship After National Gold Win

RAJOURI AUGUST 24:-In a heartening gesture of support for sports and youth empowerment, Yassar, a promising boxer from Rajouri, has received notable assistance from well-wishers.

To encourage Yassar, who comes from a poor family, a resident of Thanamandi has donated one kanal of land free of cost, honouring and supporting the budding boxer’s dedication and achievements.

Adding to this, prominent educationist and Principal of Boys Model Higher Secondary School (BMHSS) Rajouri, Muslim Wani, has pledged to sponsor Yassar’s education up to the college level, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder his academic journey.

These contributions reflect the growing recognition of young talent in Rajouri and highlight the community’s commitment to nurturing sports and education.

Jammu & Kashmir recently celebrated a historic sporting comeback after a two-decade hiatus, as Yassar secured a gold medal in boxing at the Nationals under the mentorship of Coach Ishtyaq Malik from Darhal.

Yassar clinched the gold medal in the 4th Sub-Junior (U-15) Boys and Girls National Boxing Championships held at Galgotias University, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, from August 7 to 13.

Coming from a humble background, 14-year-old Yassar lost his father six years ago and has been raised by his mother, Nasim Akhtar, who works as a domestic help to support her family. The family currently resides in a government building in Rajouri, having had their house demolished during an anti-encroachment drive.

Yassar credited his achievement to his coach, Ishtyaq Malik—a former national-level boxer—who was appointed as the Khelo India Boxing Coach at the Sports Stadium Rajouri in 2021.
