POONCH JUNE 25:- A delegation of Shia Federation Province Jammu, led by Interim Chairman Sayed Nazir Hussain Shah, met with Vikas Kundal (IAS) Deputy Commissioner (DC) Poonch today in his office chamber to discuss vital concerns of the Shia community ahead of the holy month of Moharram.
During the meeting, Mr. Shah underscored several key issues and urged the administration to ensure the uninterrupted supply of electricity and water, as well as the availability of essential commodities in Shia-populated areas during the sacred month.
A significant part of the discussion centered around security arrangements, particularly for the day of Ashura, which sees large public processions. The delegation also called for strengthened night-time security in remote hamlets where various religious programs and gatherings are scheduled throughout the month.
The Deputy Commissioner gave a patient and positive hearing to the delegation’s concerns and assured that the district administration would take all necessary steps on a priority basis to facilitate a peaceful and well-organized observance of Moharram.
The Interim Chairman, through this press release, has also appealed to the Divisional Commissioner Jammu to ensure similar arrangements are made in the districts, viz, Rajouri, Jammu and Ramban, of the province where Shia communities reside, so that the month of mourning can be observed with dignity, safety, and adequate support.
