SRINAGAR MAY 24:-Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, on Saturday said that Islam is a religion of peace and harmony, stating that the land of Jammu and Kashmir has always been Darul Salam the abode of peace.
Speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony of a new guest house at Dargah Hazratbal, LG Sinha, according to the news agency JKNS, quoted verses from Surah Nissa and said, “Among the names of Allah in the Quran is ‘Arsalan’ meaning peace and security. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) repeatedly emphasized that the path to Allah is peace. Jannat is called Darul Salam the abode of peace. Jammu and Kashmir, too, has always been Darul Salam.”
He added, “Some people have left no stone unturned to destroy this Darul Salam (J&K) and all of us know who they are. They need to be punished for their misdeeds.”
LG Sinha called the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack an assault on Kashmir’s soul. “The victims were asked their religion before being killed. It was a deliberate attempt to destroy the spirit of Kashmir and wound the soul of India,” he said.
Praising the swift military response, he added, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made it clear that any terrorist act against India will be considered an act of war. This time, terrorists were taught a lesson as nine terror camps were destroyed in just a few minutes.”
He said the people of Kashmir rose in unison against the terror attack, “This is the new face of Jammu and Kashmir resolute and intolerant of terror and its sponsors. The entire world witnessed the solidarity of Kashmiris with the victims.”
LG Sinha concluded, “Terrorism has no place in this sacred land that houses Baba Amarnath and Mata Vaishno Devi. Peace and unity are our greatest strength.” (JKNS)
