Rajouri 11 June : In order to finalise the statergy for 100% piped water coverage in the district, the District Development Commissioner Mohammad Aijaz Asad today convened a meeting with the concerned officers here in the DC office chamber.
Threadbare discussion was held during the meeting regarding status of water stressed habitations, partially covered and uncovered areas, preparation of DPR, financial implications of schemes, wornout machinery etc.
During the meeting the Executive Engineer PHE Rajouri divsion informed that an amount of Rs 272 crores is required for 91 schemes in addition to NRDWP, languishing and NABARD to ensure 100% coverage of piped water in the Rajouri subdivision.
Similarly it was informed that an amount of Rs 301 crores is required for 60 schemes in addition to NRDWP, languishing and NABARD to ensure 100% piped water coverage in Nowhera subdivision.
During the meeting the DDC also took stock of worn out machinery of the department. The concerned officer informed that there are 09 stations under languishing where the worn out machinery has been replaced.
The DDC asked the concerned officer for speedy implementation of the schemes so that the people donot face any inconvenience in getting drinking water in summer season.
The DDC laid special emphasis on water conservation and asked the concerned officers to aware the public about importance of water conservation and judicious use of water.
The DDC asked the concerned officers to ensure coordination to increase the water efficiency in the district so that the sufferings of the general public can be reduced to some extent.
The DDC said that the main function of Public Health Engineering Department is to improve health of people by providing potable and adequate drinking water supply and improving environmental hygiene by proper sanitation.
