RAJOURI JAN 08:-As part of the ongoing Road Safety Month 2025, the Assistant Regional Transport Office (ARTO) Rajouri conducted a focused awareness and vehicle-checking campaign on the Rajouri-Budhal Road today. The initiative aimed to underline the importance of road safety and encourage adherence to traffic regulations.
During the campaign, a total of 20 vehicles were e-challaned for violations such as overloading, overspeeding, lack of mandatory documents, and failure to use helmets or seat belts. Officials estimate a recovery of ₹23,000 from these penalties.
The ARTO team took the opportunity to educate drivers and passengers about the significance of following traffic rules. They emphasized that road safety is a collective responsibility and that adherence to these rules can significantly reduce road accidents.
Officials reiterated that safe traffic management requires not only government enforcement but also active participation from all sections of society. Drivers, especially the youth, were urged to avoid speeding and reckless behavior on the roads.
In a novel move, violators were handed chocolates along with warnings. According to the officials, this gesture aimed to create a positive impact, encouraging violators to see their mistakes as opportunities to learn rather than as punishments. The initiative received a warm response, fostering goodwill and reinforcing the importance of traffic discipline.
Concluding the campaign, the ARTO team appealed to citizens to prioritize road safety and fulfill their duties as responsible members of society. They assured the public that similar initiatives will continue throughout January to promote safer roads.
Such campaigns during Road Safety Month are expected to not only curb road accidents but also enhance public awareness and compliance with traffic regulations.
