ARTO Rajouri Issues Challans for 23 Vehicles, Confiscates Four in Rajouri

RAJOURI DEC 19:- In a significant enforcement operation, the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Rajouri, Pawan Kumar Sharma, along with his team, conducted a special check in the Khandli bridge area of the city, following directives from Transport Commissioner Vishesh Pal Mahajan. The operation resulted in the issuance of e-challans for 23 vehicles, the seizure of four vehicles, and fines totaling approximately Rs 43,000.

On Thursday, ARTO Sharma and his team established a dedicated check post in the bustling Khandli bridge area to promote road safety and ensure compliance with traffic regulations. During the operation, officials inspected around seventy vehicles, highlighting a need for stricter adherence to the rules among drivers.

The enforcement action led to the confiscation of four vehicles, including two motorcycles lacking high-security registration plates, one vehicle with tampered number plates, and one e-rickshaw being operated by a minor.

“We are not here to harass the common public,” ARTO Pawan Kumar Sharma stated. “Our objective is to ensure that everyone adheres to traffic regulations and carries their driving licenses and vehicle documents. Unfortunately, many drivers tend to disregard these rules, which necessitates our presence on the roads for checks.”

Sharma emphasized the importance of following traffic rules, which include ensuring that passengers are seated according to vehicle capacity and refraining from using mobile phones while driving. He further warned that strict action would be taken against any driver found violating these regulations.

The operation underscores the ongoing commitment of the transport authorities to enhance road safety and ensure a more disciplined driving environment in Rajouri.
