RAJOURI SEPT 04:–With a polling date approaching fast (September 25) political activities, including filing of nomination papers, rallies, Nukkad Meetings, have gripped the entire Rajouri district.
The last date for filing of nomination papers is September 5 till 5 pm. Till Wednesday (September 4) 11 candidates have filed their nomination papers for 5 Assembly constituencies of Rajouri district.
The prominent among them who filed their nomination papers on Wednesday include Chowdhary Zulfikar Ali who filed nomination papers as BJP candidate for 86-Budhal Constituency in the presence of Union Culture & Tourism Minister Gajender Singh Sekhawat, and J&K Election In-charge, Ram Madhav.
Earlier a first of its kind huge rally was taken out in Koteranka town and adjoining areas.
After filing of nomination papers, BJP leaders addressed a mammoth rally. Zulfikar said that Budhal and adjoining areas have a natural beauty more than the Kashmir valley, but successive governments have neglected both Rajouri & Poonch districts having a huge tourism potential.
Addressing the people, Gajender Singh Sekhawat said: “This region will be developed and will be brought on the National Tourism Map if BJP elected to power in J&K. The Union government has already initiated people’s friendly developmental schemes in the UT of J&K & the common man is getting benefits of these schemes.

Master Tassaduq Hussain, a dedicated PDP leader also filed his nomination papers today for Rajouri constituency.
Many party workers and his supporters took out a huge rally before filing papers.
“Late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and Mehbooba Mufti had initiated several developmental works in both the districts including construction of historic Mughal Road, established BGSB University, opened many colleges/schools, constructed roads for the welfare of the people” said Master Tassaduq Hussain and appealed to vote in favour of PDP.
The other two candidates who filed their nominations for PDP include Haq Nawaz, who filed nomination papers for 84-Nowshera Assembly constituency, and Irfan Anjum Choudhary who submitted nomination papers for 87-Thanamandi constituency.
On Wednesday a religious leader, having a large number of followers in both the districts and other areas, Mian Mehfooz, also filed his nomination papers as an independent candidate.
Yashuvardhan Singh son of ex-MLA (NC) on Wednesday filed nomination papers from 83-Kalakot Constituency. He is the official candidate of National Conference (NC).
Prominent candidates who will file their nomination papers on the last day (September 5) include BJP State President, Ravinder Raina from Nowshera Constituency; BJP State General Secretary, Adv Vibodh Gupta fro Rajouri constituency and former cabinet minister Adv Shabir Ahmed Khan from Thanamandi constituency.
The main attraction for the last day would be the action by prominent BJP leader, former cabinet minister and former MP (NC), Ch. Talib Hussain who has been denied BJP ticket from Rajouri constituency.
Being a prominent Gujjar leader, he has not yet opened his card but, if sources are to be believed, he may resign from BJP and likely to contest as an independent candidate from Rajouri constituency.
