RAJOURI AUGUST 12:–Habitants of Kotranka subdivision in Rajouri district have expressed their resentment against the Education Department, especially Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) Kotranka, for charging fees from the parents of poor students by violating section 3(2) in the Right of Children to Free & Compulsory Education Act-2009.

Section 3 of the Act of Union of India read, “ Every child of the age of six to fourteen years, including a child referred to in clause (d) or clause (e) of section 2, shall have the right to free and compulsory education in a neighbourhood school till the completion of his or her elementary education.](2)For the purpose of sub-section (1), no child shall be liable to pay any kind of fee or charges or expenses which may prevent him or her from pursuing and completing the elementary education,”.

On behalf of residents of Kotranka subdivision former Sarpanch of Lower Kewal Panchayat & a prominent social/political activist of Budhal area, Farooq Inqlabi has lodged a written complaint with Lt Governor Manoj Sinha Complaint against ZEO Kotranka regarding unlawful fee collection and also appealed to intervene in this matter.
“We have made several attempts to reach out to the Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) Kotranka to discuss this matter, but regrettably, she has not attended our calls. This lack of response further exacerbates the situation and raises concerns about accountability,” said Farooq Inqlabi.
“This illegal practice is causing undue stress and hardship to the parents who are already struggling to provide their children with basic education,” he added.

Farooq Inqlabi has appealed to Lt intervene to intervene in this matter and take appropriate action against the ZEO Kotranka, ensuring that the rights of these children are no upheld and that justice is served to the affected parents.
