Gundi to Mohalla Chowana Road seeking Attention.Use of Sub Standard Material A Matter of Investigation

POONCH JULY 04:–The condition of roads at various places is a matter of grave concern. Numerous areas suffer from either incomplete roads or roads that deteriorate rapidly due to the use of substandard materials. This not only highlights the misuse of public funds but also underscores a lack of accountability among contractors and government departments. Despite the significant budget allocated for infrastructure, the public continues to suffer from inadequate and unsafe roads.

A glaring example of this neglect is the Main Road from Gundi to Mohallah Chowana in Poonch, The initial earthwork for this road was completed in 2019, and it has undergone single metaling twice since then. However, as we approach 2024, the road remains un-macadamized. The poor condition of this road has led to the destruction of local lands and has caused significant inconvenience to the residents. Commuters face daily hardships navigating this unsafe stretch.

Despite repeated appeals to the PWD department, the residents’ concerns have been ignored. The road’s deplorable state, despite being in close proximity to the city headquarters, is a testament to the negligence and apathy towards the plight of the local population. Residents are left questioning their right to basic infrastructure and whether their tax money is being utilized effectively.

It is high time that the authorities take immediate action to address this issue. The residents of Poonch are urging the Deputy Commissioner Poonch and relevant departments to prioritize the macadamization of this road.

The voices of the people of this area must be heard. It is their right to have safe and reliable roads, and it is the duty of the authorities to ensure this.
