RAJOURI APRIL 26:–The Chairperson NCPCR by quoting a report on ‘X’ that PDP candidate for Anantnag-Rajouri Parliamentary Constituency Mehbooba Mufti using school going children for election campaign, has appealed to Election Commission of India to take deemed appropriate action in this matter.
Priyank Kanoongo, Chairperson National Commission For Protection Of Child Rights (NCPCR) vide her office communication on Friday to Election Commission of India (ECI) said that the NCPCR has come across a ‘X’ report wherein it has come to the notice that Ms Mehbooba Mufti is using school-going children for election campaign for Rajouri-Anantnag P.C.(‘X’ link copy enclosed).
“The commission is of the view that this appears to be in violation of various guidelines/provisions of the Model Code of Conduct issued by the ECI.The Commission while taking suo-moto cognizance of the matter under section 13(1)of CPCR Act,2005, brings the same to your kind notice for taking deemed appropriate action at your end,”read Priyanka Kanoongocommunication to ECI.
The NCPCR (the Commission) was constituted to protect the child rights & other related matters.NCPCR is also mandated to monitor the proper & effective implementation of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act 2012; Juvenile Justice Act 2015; And Right to Free & Compulsory Education (RTE) Act 2009.
