SRINAGAR FEBRUARY 21:–Congress Mahila wing president J&K Shameema Raina held a press conference at Congress headquarters Srinagar.
While addressing media at Srinagar she said that The spectre of “rising inflation” looms large over Indian households, a direct result of the failed policies of the Narendra Modi government.
The brunt of this burden falls on the shoulders of homemakers, the unsung heroines who balance family, finances, and well-being. Amidst the storm of ever-increasing prices, they struggle to keep their families afloat.
She said that vegetables like Tomatoes, once a staple, have nearly doubled in price, from 240/kg to 270/kg. Onions have also skyrocketed, from 220/kg to 235/kg. Even potatoes have seen a surge, from ₹15/kg to 225/kg,
Addingly , she said The lifeline of countless kitchens, LPG cylinder prices have soared to 1050 in recent years. This puts immense pressure on budgets, forcing families to cut back on gas usage, impacting health and hygiene.
Lamba said We cannot turn a blind eye to the silent struggles of homemakers. The Prime Minister, who has remained silent on their plight, has failed to implement effective measures to control inflation over the past 10 years. Instead of providing subsidies or price controls on essential commodities, the central government has written off ₹10 lakh crore in bank loans for big industrialists in the last 10 years.
