Health block Kandi Observe an international Day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking

BUDHAL JUNE 27:–The International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was also observed in Rajouri on Monday. The Kandi Health Department organized a series of seminars and rallies aimed at sensitizing students and general public about the menace of drugs in the society. To create awareness, the event was organized at Dak Bungalow Kotranka Government Boys Higher Secondary School Budhal Girls High School Budhal in which the Health Department organized a one-day seminar on the subject. It is clear that the global drug problem is a complex one is a problem that affects millions of people around the world. Many people who use drugs face stigma and discrimination, which can further damage their physical and mental health and prevent them from accessing the help they need.

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) recognizes the importance of adopting a people-centred approach to drug policies, focusing on human rights and evidence-based approaches.

The International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking or World Drug Day is observed annually on June 26 to strengthen action and cooperation to achieve a world free of drug abuse. The campaign aims to raise awareness about the importance of treating people who use drugs with respect and compassion. Provide evidence-based voluntary services for all, offer alternatives to punishment, prioritize prevention, and lead with compassion. The campaign also aims to combat stigma and discrimination against people who use drugs by promoting language and attitudes that are respectful and non-judgmental.

The seminar was conducted under the supervision of BMO Kandi Dr. Vinod Kumar Bhat while ADC Kotranka Surinder Mohan Sharma was the chief guest. SHO Kandi Raza Ali Khan also participated on this occasion. ADC Kotranka flagged off an awareness rally against this scourge in Kandi block. The rally was organized by the Health Department, Kandi under Nasha Mukta Bharat Abhiyan. Health staff teaching and non-teaching staff participated in the rally which started from Kotranka and Budhal town and ended later after passing through the town of Kotranka and Budhal. SHO Budhal NR Thakur was the chief guest on the occasion of World Anti-drug Day in Budhal.

On this occasion, SHO Budhal said that the scourge of drugs has to be eradicated completely. He said that the various measures taken by the government to limit the supply of drugs have proved effective in controlling its use.Hundreds of students, Asha workers, social workers participated in the rally held in Kotranka Budhal. The function was presided over by Dr. Muhammad Ayub Lone at Dak Bungalow Kotranka and Dr. Muhammad Latif Dar at Budhal.
